Tabata Tuesday….and HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
The workout description is “Your muscles will beg for mercy as your strength training starts with Tabata-style “20 seconds on, 10 seconds off” power moves.”
Here is also a little bit of information I found after I researched it a little. The name Tabata comes from the man who invented it Dr. Izumi Tabata, a Japanese physician, He conducted a study using an interval-based training model with high performing athletes. His objective was to see if athletes would benefit from a 20/10 session repeated eight times. This type of exercising has show to to help improve fitness and weight-loss benefits for all levels of fitness. You just have to do YOUR personal best and push hard on those “ON” times. You train FULL OUT 100% – – In otherwords – – You MAXED OUT!
Now, other fitness programs follow Dr. Tabata’s lead, but they tweak it to make it their own. Here are the most popular times depending on your fitness level.
Advance – 60/10
I maxed out at 10:07. I was able to stay on my toes for the push-ups BUT I had to modify and go down to my knees on the “Pop-Up Push-Ups” Boo! My goal is to do regular push ups throughout the whole program! THAT is a big goal and may NOT be accomplished on this 2nd round…But I’ll try!
