I read this yesterday and it stuck with me. Not necessarily for the fact that I try to make a habit of getting up and getting my exercise done. This resonated with me more because of the things I do that I don’t want to do. These things are ALSO creating MY character.
Habit is actually character. Habits are formed by discipline or lack of discipline.
Our character is basically what we do over and over! It is what people expect of us, such as being on time, or how we respond to circumstances. Over time, habits become part character.
I get grumpy when my Steelers lose (yesterday I was happy), I don’t respond well when I’m under a lot of stress, I want more patience during “homework” time, and I want to be disciplined in growing my team.
Changes in character come about by developing NEW habits to replace your old ones.
The prayer at the end of my devotional said:
Lord, You see my character flaws and weaknesses, and yet You still love me. Help me to discipline myself in those areas that still need changing.
Blessed to be apart of the #nevermissamonday hashtag! Let’s see what the Hammer and Chisel have for me today!
I’d love for you to join my NEW YEAR – NEW YOU Group starting January 4th!
Message me to get more information.
Today was a weighted cardio workout called Chisel Cardio. One of the exercises was a Kettlebell Swing. You can use a dumbbell if you don’t have a Kettlebell. I have always liked this exercise because it gets your blood pumping and increases your heart rate in just a few swings. It works your glutes, hamstrings, quads and core all in one move!
This cardiovascular resistance routine will increase heart rate, circulation, and burn an intense amount of calories.
I use to keep a Kettlebell in my bathroom. Every time I made a trip to the bathroom I did 10 to 20 KB Swings just to increase my heart rate throughout the day! I might need to do that again to help “burn” some of those extra holiday calories! I used a 25lb Kettlebell today.
