How do you deal with it?
I will admit I have struggled in the past with emotional eating.
When things get stressful and I get upset I didn’t realize it at first, but I wanted something to comfort me. A lot of times I realized I would go to food for that comfort.
And being a Ex-Baker, I had extra leftover cupcakes, and cookies always in the house. So, I’d grab a sugary treat.
I talk about this is my groups a bit and I’ve realized I am not alone on emotional eating.
We will always have some amount of stress in our lives, but we need to NOT focus on those things and Focus on the fact that God is big enough to help us through any challenge we face…without looking to food for comfort.
My tip to help me battle my emotional eating cravings: I use a green sticky note in my panty to help remind me that maybe Green Tea is a better option for me to calm down than to grab a snack I’ll regret later!
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3 NIV
Do you consider yourself an emotional eater?
If so, what do you typically eat when you are stressed, sad, or happy?!?!
For me I crave a CARB when I’m upset!
NOT a sweet potato, NOT a brown rice. I mean BAD carbs like chips, PB&J of WHITE BREAD *gasps*, and chocolate like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!
Below is my Emotional Eating Series I share with my challengers.
In my pantry I keep a sticky note that says “green tea” to remind me not to snack on the things in the pantry.
NOW….I try my best to realize I’m JUST upset and I DON’T really need to eat something! I try to have a cup of Hot Green Tea…they even make them in different flavors like Pomegranate and Blueberry (which is my favorite).
