I so wanted to quit!!
My oldest son had football conditioning practice last night. I think these are great in the summer to keep them moving and staying active in the summer. The coach encourages the parents to do the workout with the kids.
I’ve done a couple, BUT this one was a KILLER! I am NOT a runner.
It was hard all sorts of drills with sprints, longer runs, and really long runs! I was WAY out of my comfort zone and came in last the majority of the time. (I was also informed by my oldest I run funny! …yeah…bc I was dying)
My point being I wanted to QUIT, I really wanted to walk back to the car and wait for practice to be over.
BUT the only thing that kept me going was I would NEVER let him quit at practice. I was encouraging the boys last night to keep going and to push (partly because we would have to do that sprint over if we didn’t run through the cone – parents included)
I didn’t want him to see me give up and quit, I wanted to prove to him and myself that I could finish the practice.
I finished the practice, but I was exhausted and I am SO SORE this morning! haha
After practice, I told my son he motivated me to keep going. It helps to have a “WHY” you are working on being a better version of yourself.
It also helps to have a buddy, or a community, like my accountability groups, that keeps pushing you to be your best!
