“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” LUKE 9:23
“If I want to grow closer to God, I have to distance myself from whatever is distracting me.” Lysa Terkeurst
I want communion with God. Not just to feel safe in my relationship with Him. I want to identify distractions in my life and eliminate them to grow closer to Christ.
For me, that may be putting my phone away while I study His word or spend time with kids.
Opening my Bible when I feel defeated or bored instead of turning on the television.
Drinking a glass of green tea with lemon before I go to bed instead of raiding the pantry.
Each of us have different distractions. I challenge you to identify yours today. Ask yourself what you are filling your mind or body with to satisfy a craving that can only be met by God.
This weekend I want you to concentrate on getting in your workout, being present on our page, lifting each other up, and staying accountable! Post if you are struggling with food or workouts. Share your excitement and frustration – more than likely, someone is feeling the exact same way. It takes 21 days to develop a habit so you are almost there! Keep on going and be the positive influence in your life to yourself and those around you!
Prayer for the day: Dear Lord, I realize that You do not need me. I need You. But I don’t often live each day understanding this. Far too often, I forge ahead and battle my issues without You. I want to grow closer to You, to live each day with You. Help me to remember You will never leave me. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“What we fix our attention, heart, and mind on is what we will worship.” Lysa Terkeurst
It’s the weekend. I want you to think about WHY you started. Things may be slowing down . Motivation, momentum may feel lost. DON”T give up!
Lysa’s words above really resonated with me when I read them. When I started this, I worshiped food more regularly than I worshiped God. We were made to consumer food, but it wasn’t made to consume us!
“Dear Lord, help me to identify my inappropriate cravings today. I offer them back to You and ask You to take them as my act of worship today. I want to crave You and only You. IN Jesus’ name, Amen.” – Lysa TerKeurst from Made to Crave
Today I want you to think about what obstacles you are going to encounter this weekend.
Did you already have your one cheat meal this week?
If you slipped up somewhere along the way, it is time to re-adjust.
Stay on track, remember your portion sizes, flex your willpower muscles, and plan it out! Think ahead and anticipate any obstacles that could come your way. Be strong and know that SUCCESS is going in with a clear mind and HAVING A PLAN!
We all want to see results yesterday, but we need to realize that it is the small, consistent choices that will bring about change.
We can’t just do it for two weeks and expect to have a super-model body!
You have to be consistent over the course of a few months and that is when the magic will happen!
It is all about looking at the big picture, but breaking it down into small manageable weekly goals.

Freezing Meals can be very helpful when eating clean. Prep your meals and freeze them into freezer bags all chopped and ready to go for your slow cooker or for when you are ready for cook dinner.
