“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
“Temptation is an invitation to meet my needs outside the will of God.” Lysa Terkeurst from Made to Crave
Satan is the ultimate deceiver. He knows that by getting you to doubt God and his provision, you will turn to him every time!
I am so guilty of telling myself I “need” things to satisfy me instead of God. New shoes, a vacation, that pizza, even certain brands of clothing for my kids! Maybe it’s emotional. Recognition at work or kind words from my husband.
But the more I overspend, overwork, overeat, the emptier I feel. And that is Satan’s ultimate goal. To separate me from the love of Christ and to keep me out of His will. God promises to meet ALL our needs. Physical and emotional. Are you turning to food or other “wants” to meet your desires? Or are you relying on God to do that for you? This was and is a tough one for me.
I was talking to someone and we discussing the similarities with shopping (spending money) and food. People go to both for comfort! You can get both under control, but you can easily SLIP back into the old routine if you are not careful about remembering your wants versus your needs.
My favorite tip while readying Made to Crave was prayer BEFORE every time you ate…SNACKS included. This will get you in the habit of pausing and making sure the food you are blessing is helping you reach your peace and not helping your guilt.
It is the battle between Instant Gratification versus the long term goal.
Balance between feeling Deprived and feeling Guilty – Peace vs. Guilt.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, I am reminded once again of how dangerous temptations are, because they invite me to meet my needs outside of Your will. Keep me from compromising and from justifying today. I know that only Your provision sustains life and satisfies my soul. I want this truth to ring loud and clear throughout my day today. In Jesus’ name, Amen. – Made to Crave Prayer

Recipe of the Day: Herb Chicken & Lettuce Wrap
I make the chicken ahead of time and then use it for lunches throughout the week! A BIG time saver!
LUNCH Option – Healthy Chicken Salad
Mix the above chicken with Dijon mustard, diced tomatoes, diced celery and cilantro and use a lettuce leaf to make Chicken Salad Lettuce wraps.
Why do I call it a TREAT MEAL instead of a Cheat Meal?
We need to change our thinking a little!
The word “Cheat” is a word that holds NEGATIVE connotations.
When you “Cheat” you get in trouble, it’s wrong or bad.
A TREAT MEAL is simply a unclean food we choose to eat on OCCASION, but they will NOT hinder our success in the long run because you WILL pick up right where you left off.CHOOSE which TREAT MEAL you will have…and ENJOY IT and pick up where you left off.
Notice I keep saying MEAL…ONE MEAL…NOT A DAY….one meal. Make it count! With this “NE W” attitude unclean food will no longer have to be feared by us trying to lose weight or stay healthy.Have the dessert, but NOT the whole carton of ice cream! It is NOT about the short term view….it is our LONG TERM GOAL!
Tip: I love oatmeal, especially with cinnamon on top, but some people just don’t like it! OR they are just diehard cereal fans! So here are some tips for finding a boxed cereal!
Check the amount of sugar added. This isn’t hard to figure out since most of packaged cereals have added sugar.
Starch is one of the only natural carbohydrates in cereals, and occasionally fruit may account for a gram or two per serving, but no more. The rest of the sugar has been added by the manufacturer.
Go for cereals with zero to 5 grams of sugar per serving. Zero indicates that there has been no sugar added, while 5 grams would equal to maximum of one teaspoon of added sugar per serving.
Kashi is a good brand.
If there are no added sugar, there will rarely be any other unwanted processed ingredients. Common brands of cereals that meet these guidelines are plain shredded wheat, puffed cereals and some kashi brand cereals.
Then add in some fresh fruit to sweeten it naturally!
