“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Romans 8:5
Before challenge groups I did not think twice about donuts for breakfast with a egg, bacon croissant, McDonald’s French Fries dipped in Big Mac sauce and pizza for dinner…oh and then be upset the next morning when I could not fit into my clothes.
The cycle was heartbreaking for me…But I could not get it under control. I was mad that I had to watch what I ate and thought it was NOT fair!
I let my taste buds rule my life …I ate bad food because it tasted good and comforted me for a short moment in time.
I had to get out of that mind set and train my taste buds like ENJOY healthy foods…or at least ENJOY how I felt when I ate healthy foods.
I felt better, I was happier not feeling all bloated and bogged down, I was a better person when I stayed on track!
It wasn’t easier, but finding those couple healthy recipes you enjoy and stick with them for a bit and keep trying new ones. Find some that help you stay on track and train those taste buds to enjoy the healthy foods too!
Tell your taste buds THEY ARE NOT THE BOSS OF YOU ANY LONGER!
YOU are in control!
“Dear Lord, thank You for loving me despite my struggles. You know me and love me every day and I thank You for that. Help me to change my food cravings. I desire to eat healthy. Help me to be victorious today. I know I was made for more than what my taste buds tell me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” Made to Crave Prayer by Lysa TerKeurst
Assignment for today is a BIG one!
So what I want to do in order to add that extra level of accountability is ask each of you
IF YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE A TREAT MEAL OR SLIP UP FROM THIS POINT FORWARD I WANT YOU TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO IT!
I thought this was interesting…I read that you should have your treat meal earlier than on the weekend because weekend are an excuse to go over board. I thought that was interesting…I’m not sure I could stick with be uber healthy all weekend, but i guess it would be worth a try!
I want you to POST PICTURES of your meals! It helps keep you on track throughout the day!!
It will make you second guess your Treat, and also it makes me realize that a Treat meal is a once a week thing not an everyday thing!
-Definition of a treat meal:
A treat meal is 1 meal that happens 1 time per week. It is when you are still mindful of portion sizes but you eat whatever you want.
IT IS ONLY ONE MEAL, not an entire day. Schedule it into your week, so that way you know you have to make good choices the rest of the week.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Yogurt
This would be considered a healthier treat…so don’t do it every day!
1 tsp of chocolate chips = 1 tsp….but should ONLY happen 3 times a week. If you notice a stall in your progress …just cut it out again!
Fit Tip: Metabolic Rate
Metabolic rate is the speed of your metabolism. It establishes how much food you need to consume to maintain a stable weight. If you find yourself gaining weight, you are consuming more energy than your metabolism can process and you begin to store the unused fuel as fat.
HOWEVER, it is important to note that you cannot starve yourself either! Your body thinks it is in famine, this response holds onto your fat as a protective reserve of energy in order to guarantee your survival.
So, the answer, EAT HEALTHY, CLEAN FOODS
